Business Coach in the Hunter Valley for Small Business Owners

Amanda McKee, business coach and advisor for Hunter Valley small business owners across Cessnock, Pokolbin and Singleton

Running a business in the Hunter Valley has a rhythm Sydney advisors don't get. Seasons matter. Tourism cycles matter. School holidays matter. Vintage matters. A quiet July hits a wine business differently than it hits a Sydney CBD agency, and the advice you get should know the difference.

If you're searching for a business coach in the Hunter Valley, you're probably tired of generic strategy decks built for businesses that look nothing like yours. Or you've grown the business as far as your own time and energy can carry it. Or you're stuck at a ceiling you can't quite name.

I'm Amanda McKee. I help small business owners across the Hunter Valley work out what's really going on, then actually fix it.

Most coaches stop at mindset. Most consultants give you a report and leave. I do both, plus the work that comes after.

That third part is the bit most owners are missing. You probably don't need more advice. You need someone who'll diagnose the real problem (not the loud one), then either coach you through the next decision or get hands on with the implementation. I look across eight areas of your business together so we don't fix one thing while another breaks behind it.

Who I Work With Across the Hunter Valley

I work with small business owners across Cessnock, Pokolbin, Branxton, Singleton, Lovedale, Kurri Kurri, Maitland and the surrounding areas.

The mix is broad. Tourism and hospitality, wineries and cellar doors, accommodation, trades supporting agriculture and construction, allied health, professional services and retail with a tourism angle. My background is heavy in trades and construction, but the work translates across industries.

The owners who get the most out of working with Outlign have been in business a few years, know something needs to change, and are done waiting for a quiet week to deal with it.

Holistic advisory with local context

What Hunter Valley owners typically need help with

Common focus areas:

  • Managing cashflow through seasonal swings so a quiet month doesn't tip the business

  • Pricing properly when your competitors are pricing badly and dragging the market down

  • Building systems that hold during vintage, peak season or school holidays

  • Operations that scale without you needing to be in three places at once

  • Marketing that brings the right kind of guest, client or customer in

  • Hiring and keeping good staff in a region with a tight labour market

  • Owner wellbeing because you weren't built to run like a bull at a gate for twelve months straight

How working together looks

Three ways in…

Focus Session. A 90 minute structured advisory session for one problem you can't crack. Starts from $250. Fee credits to a Clarity Audit if you keep going.

Clarity Audit and Roadmap. A full assessment across eight areas of your business. You walk out with a roadmap that's actually doable.

Momentum and Traction. Ongoing advisory partnership for owners who want a thinking partner who knows the business and keeps everything moving.

Don't fit neatly into one of those? We can build a custom package. Most owners need something between the lines and that's fine.

Mel McKee, founder of Crystal Wolf Cleaning, and successful client of Outlign business coaching and advisory in the Hunter Valley

“We built our processes ourselves as we grew, and what worked when we were small was creating real bottlenecks.

Amanda came in, assessed everything with fresh eyes, and helped us rebuild from the ground up. Admin systems, sales process, client experience, how we presented the brand.

The last twelve months have been our biggest growth period yet.”

Based in Lake Macquarie, working across the Hunter Valley

I'm based in Lake Macquarie so I'm across the Hunter regularly. Most work happens online which means you don't lose a morning to driving. In person is easy when it'll genuinely help, like kickoffs, workshops or when something needs to be done with you on the ground.

Frequently asked questions

Q. What does a Hunter Valley business actually need from a coach?

A. Someone who understands the seasonal nature of the work, the regional labour market, the way the tourism dollar moves, and the difference between Hunter Valley and the rest of NSW. Generic coaching advice doesn't account for any of that.

Q. Do you only work with wineries and tourism businesses?

A. Not at all. Most of my background is in trades and construction. The Hunter Valley work I do spans tourism, hospitality, trades, allied health, agriculture-adjacent businesses and professional services. The frameworks apply across industries.

Q. I'm in Singleton, Pokolbin or Cessnock. Will you come out here?

A. Yes when it'll add value. Most of the work happens online for efficiency. In person is on the table for kickoffs, workshops or when something needs to be done with you in your business. Extra costs may apply. But I’m also not here to waste your time or money.

Q. I'm flat out during vintage and peak. When's a good time to start?

A. Before peak, not during. The smart move is building during the quieter window so you're ready to handle the next peak without burning out. If we have to start mid-peak, we focus on the smallest set of changes that buy you breathing room.

Q. How much does it cost?

A. Focus Sessions start from $250. Ongoing advisory depends on scope. I'll give you a real number after the discovery call. We can also personalise a package if neither standard option fits.

Q. What happens on the free discovery call?

A. 20 minutes. You tell me what's going on. I ask the questions that get to the bottom of it. If Outlign is the right fit we'll talk next steps. If it's not I'll tell you. You'll leave with at least one practical thing you can do this week regardless.

─── READY? ───

It starts with a conversation.

20 minutes. No pitch, no pressure. Just an honest conversation about where your business is, where you want it to go, and whether Outlign is the right fit. You'll leave with clarity either way.
